In 2017 FWC began working with a University of Southern Maine student, Will Harper, who volunteered to help us with some mapping projects. Since then, our relationship has grown substantially. Also in 2017, the GPCOG engaged the students of the Muskie School of Public Service.

USM Muskie Students Present Update to FWC Board Members
Students in the Sustainable Development Workshop at USM’s Muskie School of Public Service provided a progress update to Friends of Woodfords Corner board members this week. Two exciting projects are underway. Together the two teams aim to promote the core values of Friends of Woodfords Corner. These complementary projects emphasize the FWC goals of community engagement, purposeful design of public spaces, and local economic vitality.
A new Partnership With USM Muskie School of Public Service
An innovative new partnership has been initiated between Friends of Woodford’s Corner and USM’s Muskie School of Public Service. Under the supervision of Professor Yusueng Kim, a class of seven graduate students will be assisting FWC in a semester long project to continue the mission of revitalizing the Woodfords Corner neighborhood.
Maine Economic Improvement Fund Sponsors Graduate Student with FWC
As part of a continued effort to facilitate collaboration between the University of Maine system and local community organizations, the Maine Economic Improvement Fund (MEIF) is sponsoring a graduate assistant to work alongside Friends of Woodfords Corner this semester. Neal Goldberg, a master’s candidate in public policy at USM’s Muskie School, will be joining the FWC team to support their mission of community revitalization.
