FWC is Hiring: Program & Operations Director
POSITION OVERVIEW
Friends of Woodfords Corner (FWC) seeks a part-time Program and Operations Director to partner with an active board of directors and dedicated community of volunteers to serve as the sole staff person of this thriving organization. FWC is a Main Street America Affiliate™ whose mission is to preserve the diversity and unique history of Woodfords Corner and foster a thriving, welcoming, and sustainable village hub.
Now in its 10th year as a community organization, FWC has been volunteer-driven since its inception in 2015. The Program and Operations Director (POD) will take the lead role in FWC’s work to make Woodfords Corner a destination for residents from surrounding neighborhoods, people working in the area, and visitors. The POD is responsible for all organizational and administrative operations; supporting FWC teams and committees with their programs, initiatives, and event planning; volunteer management; communications and marketing; and fundraising project management. This is an ideal opportunity for a people-person who loves community-building and working with volunteers, is a seasoned project manager and detail-oriented nonprofit administrator, and is passionate about helping Woodfords Corner thrive.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Program Management: work closely with the six FWC teams and committees to develop and execute programs and initiatives that contribute to the vibrancy and sustainability of Woodfords Corner. Maintain documentation and communication within the organization to maximize collaboration and efficacy of our efforts.
Organizational Representation: Serve as the face of FWC to the general public, the Woodfords Corner business community, and FWC partners and partner organizations. Participate in meetings and conferences on behalf of FWC.
Administration & Operations: keep FWC on track by maintaining all organizational tools (Google Workspace, Squarespace, Little Green Light, and others), managing permits/licensing and contracts, performing basic bookkeeping functions, and maintaining relationships with all FWC vendors.
Volunteer Management: engage and grow our base of volunteers to continue to deliver quality programs and services to our community, expand our capacity, and help residents and business owners/operators feel ownership of and pride in FWC’s impact on our neighborhood.
Communications and Marketing: maintain FWC’s website and news blog, publish monthly e-news, sustain (and grow) active social media engagement, promote all Corner and FWC happenings to entice optimal participation from our community, and ensure transparent communication about FWC’s work and goals.
Fundraising: Work with the Board of Directors and volunteers to manage FWC fundraising processes and outreach. Enter donations into our CRM, acknowledge gifts, and track and report on fundraising goals. Grow into serving as a lead fundraiser for the organization.
Office Management: Maintain the FWC headquarters and serve as the primary contact for the landlord and subletter(s).
CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS FOR SUCCESS
Successful candidates will bring many of the following experience, skills, and attributes to the position, as well as the aptitude and enthusiasm to learn and further develop areas for growth.
2+ years experience working in nonprofit administration, volunteer coordination/management experience ideal
People-person who is passionate about economic development, community building, and the vitality of Woodfords Corner
Detail-oriented with strong project management skills and the ability to juggle many projects simultaneously
Top-notch writing and oral communications skills, experience writing for fundraising and nonprofit communications a plus.
Enjoy relationship building and community engagement, fundraising experience a plus
Event management experience and ability to lift and carry 25 lbs, move and set up event materials/infrastructure.
Familiarity with modern digital office functions, including Google Workspace, Quickbooks, customer relations management databases (Little Green Light), content management systems (Squarespace), and others.
COMPENSATION &
WORK CONDITIONS
Maximum of 20 hours per week, with some evening and weekend hours required. Flexible work schedule, but must accommodate participation in board and committee/team meetings.
Hourly compensation of $36.50/hour.
Hybrid work environment with flexibility to work from home and work at the office, located in the heart of Woodfords Corner, on Thursdays and Fridays.
