Short Road Ahead: Construction Updates

Surface paving is scheduled to begin on October 7. If all goes well, it should take four nights to pave the surface, and tie in the side roads. Re-striping will occur the following Sunday and Monday nights.

Sidewalk work is progressing and will be completed off the surface pavement. 

Completion of the large planter at the Oddfellows Hall and installation of trees will begin during this next three-week phase. 

Installation of the light sculpture in front of the Oddfellows Hall will begin on or around October 22. Work on Forest Avenue should be completed by December 14.

The natural gas supplier has placed concrete in its trench on Deering Avenue, which will allow the completion of the milling and paving requested by the City. The completion date was extended with the addition of work on Deering Avenue and Revere Street. This additional work should also wrap up by December 14.

Did we see you at CornerFEST?

On Friday, September 21, we held our first CornerFEST block party at the Woodfords Congregational Church. We would like to thank everyone who helped make it a success! It was very inspiring to see so many community members come together for a fun night. There was amazing local music talent playing all night long and the smell of buffalo wings from the Great Lost Bear in the air to set the mood. The night also featured great selections from Foodie Friends and Mini Mogadishu to help keep everyone going. We can't forget the incredibly talented arts&crafts vendors who were showcasing and selling their works throughout the night - what a treat! On top of that, we had some great community organizations providing us with fun activities and games to last the whole night. The turnout was incredible and we are beyond grateful of everyone who came out to support us and the neighborhood. We hope you came to visit our section and voted on what you would like to see in the corner, everyone's opinions are appreciated. We can't wait to see you at our next event! Lewis Bros Landscaping Donates to Trinity Park

Peter Lewis, Woodfords Corner neighbor and owner of Lewis Brothers Landscaping, donated $5,600 in labor and materials to improve Trinity Park.

Trinity Park is located at the corner of Forest Avenue and Lincoln Street and is the only public park visible from Woodfords Corner.

The Trinity Park Committee started making plans to revitalize and refresh the park in conjunction with the Portland Parks Division since before all the snow melted last spring. Committee members, members of Trinity Episcopal Church, and neighbors cared for the park over the months with the removal of over-grown shrubbery and extensive weeding in garden areas.

Lewis, a member of the Committee, has been generous with his time and ideas. The donation of materials and his crew’s time moved this project forward at a faster pace than could have been accomplished without his help.

Future ideas and plans include:

• new perennials and shrubbery

• benches

• a trash receptacle,

• park signage
