Serving Our Neighbors
We wanted the market to be a place to stay awhile.
We had tents with games, seating, and music for
neighbors. Over the season, we had 10 musicians. At
our last market, we had a pumpkin decorating table.
Through our How Local Can You Get campaign, we
highlighted 17 local businesses within walking
distance from the market, many of which are owned
by New Americans.
Mission of the Market
FWC saw a need for cultivating the neighborhood's
food system, and one of our endeavors has been to
develop and manage a small independent farmers
market. About 9,000 people live within walking
distance and over 20,000 cars pass through
Woodfords Corner each day.
“The variety of vendors allowed me to not only eat healthy but also support my fellow neighbors!”
“So glad we got to come to the market yesterday! My son went to bed with his painted butternut squash and was holding it when he got up this morning.”
