Summer Concert in Heseltine Park


Wednesday, July 17, 7 pm
Heseltine Park


Spend a perfect Maine evening at a free concert in the park. Join the Maine Pops Concert Band for a night of music and fun! Bring your family, bring your friends, and bring a picnic! Thank you to the Back Cove Neighborhood Association & Sammy's Scoops for sponsoring this event!

Office Sublease Available!


We're seeking a professional to sublet our furnished office space in the historic Odd Fellows building 1 or 2 days a week! The office is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting August 2024. Rent for one day a week is $150/month. 

Railroad Track Cleanup - Sign Up to Volunteer!

Thursday, July 18, 3:30 - 5:30 pm
Heseltine Park

The railroad clean up is the annual event that started this all back in 2015!  Volunteers meet up for a couple hours to clean up the railroad tracks and Saunders Triangle.  FWC coordinates with the Rail Road officer and Public Works to have the abandoned trash removed from our neighborhood.

Woodfords Corner Farmers Market: Volunteers Needed!


Help us set up and break down the farmers market! There are two different volunteer shifts: 2:30 to 3:30 pm, or 6:15 to 7:15 pm. You can sign up for one or more dates. It's a small commitment and a big help!

Back Cove Books-Sponsored Bike Rack Installed

Thank you to our friend Becca at Back Cove Books for sponsoring the purchase of this new bike rack. The rack has been installed on Forest Ave, just outside of the Odd Fellows building!

We Need Your Help: Take the Revitalization Roadmap Survey!

Friends of Woodfords Corner was recently selected by the Maine Downtown Center to receive a streamlined 7-10 week Revitalization Roadmap planning exercise. As a final product, a report will be created with recommendations that can be implemented with available community resources including capacity, character, built environment, real estate development, and streetscape. As a part of this process, we need public input!

Birth Roots: Welcoming Pregnancy

Welcoming Pregnancy is Birth Root's 90 minute intro-session. An opportunity to get oriented and meet other expectant parents in this phase of life with similar first and second trimester questions, concerns, and considerations.

Ayumi Horie Pop-Up at Coveside

Ayumi Horie is a Portland-based ceramic artist known for her functional pottery featuring colorful drawings of animals. Her work is in various collections throughout the US. Come check out and purchase her work at a Coveside Coffe Pop-up.

The Portland Ukulele Social Club is a loosely organized group of ukulele enthusiasts who come together once a month to play music and socialize. Players with all levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to strum and sing along.

Deering Ave Planters Installed: Thanks Volunteers & Sponsors!

For the fourth year Friends of Woodfords Green, Clean, and Sustainable team installed the Deering Avenue Planters. Thank you to the team leader Vonnett and all of our volunteers, who helped install the planters and will water them this summer. Local businesses State of Mind, Big Sky Bakery, Woodfords F & B, and Bird & co provided funding for the additional rain barrel and all new plants. Nate Cresswell retrofitted another barrel donated by Allagash Brewing.

Portland Press Herald Features Woodfords Corner Farmers Market

The Woodfords Corner Farmers Market was recently featured in a lovely article by Mikayla Patel of the Portland Press Herald! The article showcases the community feel of our market.

Local Lemonade Stand Supports FWC: Thank You Maddie & Fiona!


Thank you to Maddie and her friend Fiona, who, for the second year in a row, set up a lemonade stand during our Garden Tour to collect donations for FWC! We are grateful for your support.

Crosswalk Murals Painted: Thank You Everyone!


Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Portland Bike Party, the Empanada Club, and our Active Transportation Committee for making our neighborhood beautiful, and throwing a party while you were at it! We’re also grateful to the local businesses and neighbors who joined us for this fun day. Bird & Co has graciously sponsored this event for 3 years in a row!

Garden Tour: Thank You Gardeners & Volunteers!


Though we had mixed weather on our 4th annual Woodfords Community Garden Tour, we still had plenty of fun checking out our neighbor’s gardens and hanging out with some folks from Gateway Community Services Maine. Thank you to our 2024 gardeners for opening up your backyards to share with fellow garden enthusiasts!

Pot + Pan Held Grand Opening in June

Pot + Pan, a leader in culinary edibles, held it's grand opening of its first retail store in Portland, Maine at 646 Forest Ave. The vision for the shop is to be a first-of-its-kind kitchenware and entertaining destination offering a 21+ cannabis experience alongside. Pot + Pan's hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday - 12 to 9pm.
