Introducing: The Corner Crosswalk Mural FULL Installation!

On Monday, August 1st, FWC & a swath of wonderful volunteers joined on Deering Avenue to install the remaining Corner Crosswalk Murals, entitled “Refuge”. The murals were designed by FWC’s own Graduate Assistant, Meghan Kirschbaum. “Refuge” symbolizes community togetherness and placemaking with large, abstract shapes that mimic the sidewalk chalk art created by children and professional artists alike. The color palette is warm, bright, and exciting—just like a Woodfords Corner summer! Read more here.

“Refuge” is part of FWC’s larger mission to create a walkable and attractive Corner Hub. Our Active Transportation Committee, chaired by board member Nancy Grant, took the lead on this project to complement our (award-winning) Deering Avenue traffic calming infrastructure which we’ve installed two years in a row. Deering Avenue is just the beginning of what Woodfords Corner could be as a sustainable, walkable, and beautiful village hub.
