Green, Clean, Sustainable Woodfords Corner
Vonnett Seeger, FWC Board Member wants to share why she is a part of our Green & Clean initiative and how she makes it a family endeavor!
Hi All, my name is Vonnett Seeger and I too am a Woodfords Corner resident. I am also a Board Member for FWC (4 years) and a Green & Clean Team member! I have lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and am a parent of an elementary school-aged daughter. I share this with you, as it helps to set the stage for the many reasons I volunteer my time and have a vested interest in Woodfords Corner! It is MY community, MY home, and MY family. I am teaching my family and daughter about coming together with neighbors to positively impact our hub, beautifying the corner, and adopting sustainable behaviors. Read more >>>

Saturday, Mar. 12: Portland Yoga Project, Empowerment Self Defense Level 1
449 Forest Ave — 12:30-3:30 pm
Come build and share skills in verbal and physical self defense. In this super interactive training we will explore and practice assertive communication, boundary setting, and de-escalation in a huge range of situations. We’ll also practice physical responses to people encroaching on our space, unwanted touch, physical threats such as grabs, and ways to manage adrenalin in the moment. While addressing serious topics and situations, this class is also super fun and built around the ethic of challenge by choice. There are many ways to participate and you decide what works for you: watch an exercise, participate in a role play, practice a grab release with or without touch. What works for you works for us. Thursday, Mar. 31: Seed Starting Workshop w/ FWC & Backyard Blooms
On Zoom — 6:30-7:30pm
Spring is here and it is time to prepare for a bountiful summer. Starting your own seedlings at home can
save you money at the nursery and allow you to grow more varieties of plants than are often
commercially available.
Jason Aucoin is co-owner of Backyard Blooms along with his long-time friend and neighbor Kate
Hannavan-Ross. Together they sustainably grow seasonal cut flowers for events and purchase at their
farm stand on Saturday mornings at 74 Ocean Avenue, Portland. Backyard Blooms is a true urban
microfarm, with approximately 1/8 of an acre in production. . Read more >>>
