Welcome Sissle & Daughters to the Neighborhood - Help Meet Their Fundraising Goal!
Earlier this summer, Mary Chapman and Will Sissle, owners of the Cheese Shop, announced that they are opening a second market in the old Merlin Motors building on Forest Ave! This new market will maintain the specialty grocery offerings of the current location, and add coffee, a wine bar, and more prepared food options.
Will and Mary hope to make their new shop a great place for neighbors to connect, and they are committed to ensuring their shops are good places to work for locals. Mary’s family has long ties to Woodfords Corner and Maine- her family used to own the Chapman Building, which is now inhabited by State of Mind Design and Bayou Kitchen. Her family history goes back many decades in the greater Portland area!
Sissle & Daughters is planned to open in fall of 2024. To get to the finish line, Mary and Will need help from the community! They are launching a NuMarket campaign to ensure they have sufficient funds to open. With NuMarket, community members can make contributions, and in return, they will receive 120% of that contribution back in credits to be used to shop at either the new or original location. For example, if someone contributes $100, they will receive $120 to spend at the Cheese Shop or Sissle & Daughters.
We were excited to meet with Mary and Will, and are looking forward to having them in the neighborhood!
