Rewilding public spaces

There are scores of lovely gardens in our surrounding neighborhoods of Deering Center, Deering Highlands, Back Cove, Rosemont and Woodfords-Oakdale. As the FWC Clean and Green committee plans our efforts for cleaning and greening public spaces like Trinity Park and the planters at Deering and Forest, we were reminded of the great work of Heather McCargo and the Wild Seed Project. They have an upcoming event on March 4 about rewilding and the site of full of ideas for dealing with your esplanade (aka “hell strip” - that tough spot between the sidewalk and the street.) And watch for upcoming greening and cleaning efforts of the FWC volunteers and a chance to pitch in.
