City Councillors take walking tours with FWC

Neither snow nor gloom of night stayed the Active Transportation Committee from their appointed rounds. On December 9th, committee chair Nancy Grant, along with members Eric Larsson and Jeff Levine, held a morning walking meeting with Mayor Kate Snyder to share perspectives about how the City of Portland can work with Friends of Woodfords Corner to better support its mission of influencing the design of public spaces and supporting hyper-local economic vitality. That evening, the committee members and board chair Teresa Valiiere were joined by newly elected District 4 councilor Andrew Zarro, and at-large councilor April Fournier. With temperatures in the 20s, and the evening walk carried out in the dark, both meetings offered perfect opportunities to discuss how to ensure that Woodfords Corner is a safe, walkable, welcoming and vibrant neighborhood hub day and night in every season.
