Portland Opportunity Crew helps in Trinity Park
In August, the Portland Opportunity Crew helped members of Trinity Episcopal Church and Friends of Woodfords Corner at a Weeding Party in Trinity Park. The Portland OC was begun by the city of Portland in 2017. Read the article in the Boston Globe about this innovative program.
Trinity Park is the small triangle pocket park at 580 Forest Ave, in front of the Church. Trinity Episcopal Church members have been doing the maintenance of the park for decades. In 2017, FWC stepped up to help out with weeding and general clean up. Then we formed the Trinity Park Committee with members from the community, the church and Trinity Day School and have been working with City Parks and Recreation on short and long term use and care of the park. In 2018 we organized 2 work parties to help with general care. In 2019 we worked together to create Third Thursdays in Trinity Park series with our corporate sponsor, Benchmark Real Estate. By highlighting the possibilities of this public space, FWC and the committee hope to demonstrate how neighborhoods can come together and create ways to connect, have fun, and enjoy our local resources.
