CHOM Housing Project Begun on Woodfords Street

CHOM (Community Housing of Maine) is undertaking the development of new housing at the site of the Woodford’s Church at 186 Woodford Street, consisting of two phases: 1) A new building that will be constructed in the existing parking lot: "The Woodbury” comprising 51 units, a mixture of studios and one-bedrooms  2) "Woodfords Hall”, a renovation of the existing church parish house with an addition off the back, comprising 45 units.

The Woodfords Hall development will keep Memorial Hall and allow for Project Feed to remain in the buildings.  Many of the former tenants of the building have relocated to other parts of the campus.

This summer,  CHOM started early utility work at the site of the Woodfords Church to accommodate both phases of the project. This work is being undertaken to prevent cutting into the street once final pavement is laid later this summer.  CHOM completed the acquisition of the Parish House and adjacent parking lot in early June, with a likely ground-breaking on the first phase of construction in early 2027.
