Farmers Market VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer with the farmers market and spend a fun-filled afternoon of live music, local food, rotating food trucks, and your neighbors! The market runs from May 30th to October 24th at 202 Woodford St. Volunteer shifts are 2:30 to 4 pm and 5 to 7 pm. Sign up for one market, all of them, or as many as you like!

EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Volunteering at an event is perfect for those who are looking to get involved but maybe only have a day or even a couple of hours to give. FWC hosts events throughout that year that require extra hands to set up, conduct, and clean. Scroll down to read more about our 2024 events!

Volunteer on a committee

FWC is run almost entirely by volunteers - our committees are integral to making it all happen. Most committees meet all year and need all levels of support! Scroll down to learn more about our different committees.

Event Volunteers

  • Every Spring, FWC closes Deering Ave, between Forest Ave and Lincoln St, to repaint our colorful crosswalk murals. The purpose of the murals is to slow traffic, beautify our neighborhood, and let passerbys know that the Corner is a place to stay! This evet requires several volunteers to diver traffic and paint the crosswalks.

  • Each summer, FWC plants annuals in old barrels donated by local breweries that line Deering St. These help slow traffic and make our neighborhood brighter! The planters require volunteers for installation, and volunteers to help water the plants throughout the summer.

  • The Garden Tour is one o FWC’s most iconic evens, and takes a lot of people to pull it off! Volunteers are needed to help check in attendees and to support hosts who are opening their gardens to the public.

  • The railroad clean up is the event that started this all! Volunteers meet up for a couple hours to clean up the railroad tracks.

Volunteer on a Committee

  • The ATC Commitee makes Woodfords Corner more inviting, friendly, and safe for people to walk, bike, and use the Metro. They take on multiple projects, ranging from advocating for public improvements to spearheading th Crosswalk Murals event.

  • The EcoVit Committee’s purpose is to engage the Corner’s business community and it’s customers to bolster the economic vitality of the area. Every 2 years, the EcoVit team conducts an in-depth survey and inventory of the neighborhood’s businesses.

  • The Green & Clean team advoates for and assists with the maintenance and upkeep of public space, like the plaza outside of the Odd Fellows building and Trinity Park. This committee also plans the annual Garden Tour.

  • The Resource Development Committee works to make FWC a sustainable organization through fundraising, friend-raising, and volunteer recruitment and management.

  • Our newest committee is in charge of planning the farmers market, from support recruiting vendors to dreaming up and implementing ways to make this a third space for our community.
