Where does our happiness and contentment come from? Buddhist teachings reveal that the true source of happiness is inner peace, which can be developed through learning to control and transform our mind. By gaining this skill, we can begin to let go of our inner enemies of anger, jealousy, and greed, and tap into a sense of authentic well-being and joy—which is our real nature. If we can do this—even once or twice—we will start to get a taste of our great potential for lasting happiness and peace of mind, and we will feel tremendous encouragement to continue and deepen our practice.
This is a special talk by Gen Kelsang Dorje, a Buddhist monk and qualified teacher who spent years teaching in the Greater Boston area with the Serlingpa Meditation Center. He is now the Resident Teacher of the Kadampa Meditation Center Chicago. We are very happy to have him back to visit and share this essential Buddhist wisdom.
