Thursday, June 2: Deering Avenue Traffic Calming Installation
Deering Avenue & Revere Street — 8:30 - 11 am
A primary goal of Friends of Woodfords Corner is to make the Corner safer, more accessible, and more inviting for everyone—walkers, bicyclists, and drivers alike. Foot and bike traffic is critical to local businesses in Woodfords Corner and will help to revitalize the Woodfords Corner neighborhood. The simplest way to improve safety in the Corner is to make sure vehicles travel through the Corner at an appropriate speed. The best way to ensure that is to design the roads to indicate that they are used by all.
Based on the success of our "Imagine People Here" project last summer, we will be re-installing the Deering Avenue traffic calming infrastructure. Come say "hi"!

Murals, graffIti, sculpture, lights, storefronts – we viewed 10 examples of “art” in Woodfords Corner (Google Map) and shared our thoughts, ideas and memories about what makes “public art” and how this shapes the character of our neighborhood hub. What is art? Who decides? What does this piece mean? What is the artist conveying? How does it work in this location? Is that advertising? Is it decoration? Read more >>>
