TAKE OUR SURVEY: Temporary Infrastructure Project on Deering
On Thursday, July 15, Friends of Woodfords Corner, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM), and the City of Portland teamed up to install a variety of temporary demonstration infrastructure with the hopes of slowing traffic through Deering Ave, one of the main streets in Woodfords Corner. We need to hear from area residents about what they think of the temporary pedestrian- and bike-friendly updates. Take our quick survey to help us advocate for permanent changes that make the Corner safer and more welcoming to all modes of transportation!

Thank You and Good Luck to Olin Jenner!

The FWC Board is grateful for the work of Olin Jenner over the past year. Olin worked with us 20 hours/week as part of his Policy, Planning and Management graduate degree program at USM. His position is generously funded through the USM Muskie School of Public Service. While working with us, Olin did everything we do, from board meetings, to research, meeting business owners, demonstration projects, data entry, and community events. He will complete his graduate degree remotely from his new home in Washington, DC. We thank him profusely and wish him the best of luck!
Thank You to Nate Cresswell & Luke Truman
Thank you to our generous sustainability partners: Luke Truman at Allagash Brewing for the donation of two wine barrels; Nate Cresswell of Cresswell Design for modifying them into rain barrels and building stands; and to Dunkin' Donuts (Cafua Management) for letting us use their down spouts. These rain barrels help us water the 20 planters installed on Deering Ave., cutting down on hundreds of gallons of water needed to keep them lush all summer long. A fun note: the first storm after the rain barrel installation gave us more than 100 gallons of free water in less than 12 hours! READ MORE
