Saving Water And Beautifying the Corner
Friends of Woodfords Corner works toward improving the public spaces in the corner by design projects. For the second year we installed and now maintain 20 planters at the entrance of Deering Avenue. Another part of the project involves catching the rain water to water the plants and show how effective rain barrels can be for urban gardeners. Thanks to our generous sustainability partners - Luke Truman at Allagash Brewing for the donation of 2 wine barrels and Nate Cresswell of Cresswell Design for modifying them and building the stands, and to Dunkin Donuts (Cafua Management) for letting us use their down spouts. A fun note, the first storm after installation gave us 100 gallons of free water in less than 12 hours.
