New Retail: Ndala African Market
643 Forest Ave

Owner Bruno Ndala has opened an African grocery
in the Odd Fellows  building. When asked what inspired him to open a market, he said, "The African community in Maine is growing and they need more supermarkets!" We think that goes for all of us! Stop in a check out Bruno's selection of goods. Welcome, Ndala!
Market Outlook:
Forest Avenue Corridor is on Fire

Once a hub for gas stations and automobile service centers, the Forest Avenue corridor has become a heavily-trafficked gateway to downtown Portland, home to restaurants, retailers, nonprofits, and more. Off-peninsula neighborhoods, such as Forest Avenue, have become a draw for businesses seeking relief from expensive downtown rents. For at least a decade, Forest Avenue and Woodford’s Corner have been hosting office tenants in affordable spaces and retailers have found the reasonable lease rates both appealing and more sustainable. READ FULL ARTICLE by Samantha Marinko, Associate at The Boulos Company

In memory of Richard "Dick" Paulson

One of the joys of volunteering for FWC is getting to know our neighbors. Carmelle Paulson suggested that friends and family members of Richard Paulson donate to FWC in his memory.  It was a joy to learn about his dedication to others over his life. Dick was a visionary for restoration and revitalization in Portland. We are honored by his memory and grateful for the generosity of his loved ones, especially his wife Carmelle.  Learn more about Dick's life. Thank you to all!

Report, Remove, & Prevent

The FWC Clean & Green committee hosted a Zoom information session on March 25 for the businesses, property owners, and residents to learn ways to prevent, report, and remove unwanted tagging on our local buildings. Thank you to Amy Geren, Rich Bianculli, Tim Delahanty, and Sam Buhlig for participating in this informative meeting last month! You can check out a recording of the info session HERE.

A word of thanks to all Portlanders
... who work to make Portland welcoming and safe. Woodfords Corner is a proudly diverse area, and we welcome and support all. Please continue to support the values of diversity and respect in Portland – at rallies, in businesses, on the street, online, when you vote... wherever you live, work, create, play, travel, worship, and connect.
