Thank you Prashiddhi Pokhrel for two years of service!

With much gratitude. FWC honors Prashiddhi Pokhrel for 2 years of service with FWC. Prashiddhi was the sixth graduate assistant from University of Southern Maine placed in an innovative ongoing partnership between Friends of Woodford’s Corner and USM’s Muskie School of Public Service.  Launched in 2019, the partnership between USM and FWC provides on-the-ground student experiences in a wide variety of community development and organization activities while earning a modest income through funds provided by Maine Economic Investment Fund (MEIF). Prashiddhi’s graduate work focuses on data and statistics.

At FWC she designed surveys, gathering data in person and on-line, summarizing results and presented to the FWC board.  By walking up and down the commercial streets of our district, she inventoried over 200 small businesses, gathering data and making outreach to the small businesses easier for the volunteers on our Economic Vitality team.   In addition to her “data duties,” Prashiddhi staffed the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market Team every week for 2 full seasons – learning and growing real-world skills in community development and public engagement.   A native of Nepal, she shared her culture with our community, leading a showcase at the Farmers Market on Nepalese food as part of our Shop Around The World, Right Around the Corner Series in fall of 2024 and hosting a celebration of Nepalese holiday in the Odd Fellows Hall that was open to the public.  We are so grateful to her for her service, and wish her all the best in completing her graduate degree soon!
