Know Snow - keeping our sidewalks clear for a walkable neighborhood
The snowfall has been light this year but we still want to keep the neighborhood and hub walkable. in 2020 FWC worked with the City of Portland to develop simple Know Snow flyers that describe our the responsibility of residents and businesses to keep the city sidewalks clear. This is really crucial along major routes like Forest Ave where traffic is heavy and speedy. The city translated this document into many languages, so we can help our newest neighbors know the drill.
There is free sand/pet-friendly salt mix available to residents at Payson Park for free - up to 2 - 5 gallon buckets. Just bring your buckets and shovel. See the Winter Operations/Portland page. And anyone can report concerns about sidewalks that are note cleared of snow or ice via the See Click Fix app or call the city at 207-874-8793. You can also download the SeeClickFix app on you phone.
