Final Farmers Market on October 5th!


On October 5th, 3 to 6 pm, join us in celebrating the final market of our inaugural season! We will have 40 free pumpkins to decorate at the market or to take home and carve. Thanks to our community, vendors, volunteers, and graduate assistants for making first season of Woodfords Corner Farmers Market a success.

Putting Planters to Bed: Volunteers Needed

On October 22nd, FWC will be putting the Deering Ave planters to bed for the winter and we need your help! Bring gloves and small hand tools if you have them. Volunteers will have the chance to take home any of the plants that are still in good shape.

Trinity Park Public Meeting

Our neighborhood’s little pocket park in front of Trinity Church is getting some TLC. The Friends of Trinity Park and the church have hired Joshua Tompkins, a landscape architect with experience designing parks and public spaces, to develop a plan to refresh the park. Stop by on October 24th to learn more and share your ideas!

Save the Date: Harvest Dance on November 4th


On November 4th, FWC will be kicking off our Live @ Odd Fellows Hall event series with a concert from bands Onward/Collins. Join us for a fun night of music and dancing!

Call for Artists: Only a Few Spots Left!


Attention makers of all kinds! FWC is gearing up for the 2nd annual Odd Fellows Holiday Bazaar. We are accepting 30 vendors who sell crafts of any kind - from prints to homemade birdhouses! Registration closes at 30 submissions or on 11/15 and fees vary by set up type.

Help us Get More Bike Racks in the Corner!

Friends of Woodfords Corner is conducting a Bike Rack Bonanza to install more bike parking locations around the neighborhood! We need your help to purchase bike racks and get them placed throughout the Corner.

We are now seeking public input on new bike rack locations! Vote on where you want to see bike racks and donate to our campaign.

Potluck in the Sukkah

Temple Beth El, 400 Deering Ave — Wednesday, October 4th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

All are welcome to join Temple Beth El at the Potluck in the Sukkah. Bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Hosted by Littoral Books, Back Cove Books, and Hole in the Head Review, the Portland Poetry Festival is a day-long celebration of Maine poetry featuring writing workshops for kids and poetry readings.

Cope Law Firm, 461 Stevens Ave — Thursday, October 14th, 7 - 8 pm

Deering Center Neighorhood Association is hosting a City Council Candidate Forum to meet the candidates for District 4, Sam Cady and Anna Bullett. All are welcome. This event will be recorded and the video will be shared after the forum.

Coveside Coffe, 28 Vannah Ave — Saturday, October 21st, 9 am - 1 pm

Stop by Coveside for a morning full of coffee, crafts and crepes! Some of our favorite vendors will be joining for a “mini market” in our parking lot and Crepe Elizabeth will be set up and making delicious crepes all morning.

ReCode Portland Shares Podcast Episode

Now in it’s second phase, ReCode Portland is evaluating that code with help of Portland residents to help achieve goals set in Portland’s Plan 2030, including goals around housing, equity, economy, the health of downtown, the environment, and transportation. In this episode, you’ll learn about zoning and what changes have been made under the project so far.

Trinity Hires Landscape Architect & Prepares for Spring

The Friends of Trinity Park and Trinity Church have hired a landscape architect to develop a plan to refresh the park! They have also been working with FWC to get a bus shelter installed at the adjacent metro stop. To get ready for next spring, Friends of Trinity Park will be hosting a bulb planting social on October 28th.

Thank You to BCNA for Baxter Blvd Party!

Organized by Back Cove Neighborhood Association (BCNA), the celebration of the reopening of Baxter Blvd included food trucks, games, live music and non-profit tables Friends of Woodfords Corner, Casco Bay Trails, Portland Trails and most fun of all - a Bike Rodeo provided by Bicycle Coalition of Maine. Thanks to Ideal Maine Band for the rousing music and to all the neighbors who came out for a great afternoon!

Portland Community Squash - A Jewel on Noyes St

Over on Noyes Street a few blocks from the corner, one of our non-profit partners is buzzing with hope and opportunity for kids! Portland Community Squash Community Center helps students from 6th grade to college. Consider joing the Coastal Challenge this October to raise money for students' scholarships!
