The Clock Tower
In May, FWC hosted a collaborative event at the IOOF building. Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) own the clocktower in the corner. There was a slide show on the history of the corner presented by Julie Larry of Greater Portland Landmarks, food donated from 11 corner businesses and tours of the building. There were over 150 people at this free and public event. Plans are to make this a yearly happening.
Shortly after our event, the lodge members of the IOOF decided to invest in repairing the clock. See the story in the Portland Press Herald.
The repair of the clock is the symbol of the revitalization of the corner's village feel, and we're grateful to the Oddfellows for the their commitment to the neighborhood.
