The plot thickens. We didn't know that a few years before two concerned neighbors (Andy and Eric) started a Facebook page for Friends of Woodfords Corner. They were worried about the effects of the Transformation of Forest Avenue plan that had been approved. Andy wrote a great opinion piece for the Bangor Daily News on the project. In searching history on the web, I found the article below from the 1960s. Seems like the traffic trouble will always be our challenge.
