2026 Deering Ave Planter Installation

Thank you to the volunteers, including several members of VFW POST 6859, who braved the cold and stormy weather this past Saturday to help install the planters along Deering Avenue. Displayed annually by FWC since 2020, these planters help to beautify our streets and improve safety by adding vibrant greenery to the urban cityscape and naturally slowing traffic.

We are grateful to the businesses who helped to make the planters possible this year, including: Big Sky Bread, Bird & Co and State of Mind. Thank you also to Backcove Flowers for design guidance, Allagash for the planter and rainwater barrels, and Cresswell Restoration for the custom made stands.

The beautiful combination of flowers and plants were sourced at a discount, generously provided by Broadway Gardens. From thrillers to spillers, the selection includes Guara, Superbells, Zinnia, Dahlia, Coleus, Dusty Miller, Bacopa, Silver Falls and Sweet Potato Vine.

If you would like to help keep our planters thriving and beautiful throughout the summer, we’re looking for volunteers to help with watering! Watering dates from June through the end of September have been posted to the Friends of Woodfords Corner calendar on Civic Champs for easy sign-up.
