You can find your people in Woodfords Corner!

March 26th: Join or Die Doc and Talk 


Thursday, March 26th from 6-8pm
Odd Fellows Hall, 651 Forest Ave, Portland

Join or Die: A Film About Why You Should Join a Club is a film about why you should join a club — and why the fate of America depends on it.

After the show, stay for the rare 30 minute tour of the historic Odd Fellows Hall (two story ballroom, artifacts, and much more!)

Come and enjoy an evening of community about community!

Event is free and open to the public. Donations appreciated - not required.

Bingo at VFW


Did you know you can play Bingo every Monday night in the corner with a chance to win $$, get food and drinks, and free parking? What are you waiting for?! G-O!

You can also play poker and listen to music throughout the month at the VFW. Check 'em out on Instagram too. 

American Mahjong


Need an activity with less screens and more people? How about trying American Mahjong? Play American mahjong using the 2025 card. Cards can be purchased at the game. If you are planning on attending, please email secretary@woodfordsclub.com or call 207-772-4893.

Or, give Duplicate Bridge a try! Join the Duplicate Bridge club on Mondays and Wednesdays at 12pm at the Woodfords Club. They are always looking for new members!

Portland Camera Club!


Did you know that we have a camera club in the Corner? Founded in 1899, The Portland Camera Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country.

Photography enthusiasts of all levels are invited to be a member for $50/year, or discounted at $25/year for college students, and free for high school students. Meetings are held weekly from September to May on Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Woodford’s Club.

Comedy Improv 


Need to meet some like-minded comedy loving folks? The Improv Comedy Incubator is a drop-in improvisational comedy space where people pay what they can (suggested $5) and play improv games without the pressure of an audience.

Tabletop Game Nights


Looking for some healthy competition with your gaming?

Try checking out FriendCon. They host game nights all over Portland and lucky for us they host a game every Saturday night and the third Thursday of the month at the Woodfords Club. 

Book Clubs in the Corner


Maybe book clubs are more your speed?

Check out the March offerings at Back Cove Books. There is so much to read and explore! You can also head to the Woodfords Club on Monday, March 9th at 7:00pm or Tuesday, March 17th at 3:00 pm to discuss How To Read A Book by Monica Wood.

Winter 2026 Ripe for Repair

The January and February 2026 Ripe for Repair Meetups were well attended, with 75-100 folks participating at each event. Neighbors gathered together to share skills and repair a wide variety of items including: small home appliances, toys, clothing, textiles, ceramics, bikes, and so much more! 

A quick count captured 70 small appliances that were fixed, extending the life of these items and promoting sustainability.

March 5, 12, 19, 26th: Woodfords Church Choir


Thursdays in March from 7:10-8:30pm
Woodfords Congregational Church, 202 Woodford St

Woodfords Music extends an invitation for new singers to join the choir as we prepare for the Easter Season! Our worship theme for the season is Tell Me Something Good!

All voices are welcome in the choir - soprano, alto, tenor and basses! Short (or long) term commitments are welcome this season!

March 7th: Portland Community Orchestra


Saturday, March 7th from 7pm-8:30pm
Trinity Episcopal Church, 580 Forest Ave, Portland

 
Come join the Portland Community Orchestra for its Winter 2026 concert, with music by Bach, Vivaldi, Vaughan Williams, Turley, and two amazing youth soloists performing Fauré's Élégie for cello and orchestra and Zelter's Viola Concerto. Hope to see you there!

March 8th: Ripe for Repair

Sunday, February 8th from 1-4pm
Odd Fellows Hall, 651 Forest Avenue, 2nd Floor

Repair Meetups are free community events where people come together to help each other fix everything from small home appliances to damaged textiles.

Bring something that needs repair – small electrical appliances, housewares, speakers, bicycle wheel and a spare tire, mending and darning projects, toys, clothing, and more!

March 11th and 12th: City of Portland Watts Up series

With rising energy costs on everyone’s mind, the
Sustainability Office is hosting two free webinars
designed to giveMaine residents practical, actionable advice on how to understand their energy usage and save money.

March 19th: 60+ Lunch Series 

Thursday, March 19th, 12-1:30pm 
Temple Beth El, 400 Deering Ave, Portland 

The speaker this month is Peggy Grodinsky, Food Editor for the Portland Press Herald. Peggy will give a talk on how she got started writing about food and how much has changed since then. Feel free to bring a friend, Jewish or not. RSVPs are due by Monday, March 16th.
