The Buzz on Native Plants

On a brisk evening in October, FWC joined the Portland Sustainability Office for a screening of "The Buzz on Native Plants" at Congress Square Park.

The film explores the vital relationship between native plants and local pollinators. It highlights how small actions, such as planting native species and removing invasive plants, can help build habitat and promote climate resilience. "The Buzz on Native Plants" is currently available to stream online at PBS.

After the film, Betsy Tesh from FWC joined a panel with Julia Frederick from Wild Seed Project and Troy Moon from the Portland Sustainability Office to discuss the importance of native plants, the recently launched Grow Wild Portland initiative, and answer questions from the audience. Betsy also shared more details about the native plant pollinator garden that the FWC Green, Clean & Sustainable team installed at Saunders Triangle last fall.
