Shalom Community Park - A space for the temple, school and neighborhood !

In June the Shalom Community Park opened in the evenings and weekends for public use. Located at the corner formed by Devonshire Street and Deering Avenue, on the property of Temple Beth El and Levey Day School. With inspiration from Congress Square Park and Pond Cove Playground, the emphasis on community has been present from the start. Dream sessions with TBE leaders, Friends of Woodfords Corner, and Levey students, faculty, and parents laid the foundation for a concept that truly embodies the needs and hopes of an entire community.

Sashie Misner, designer of the Jewish Community Alliance playground and the Fort Williams Children's Garden, took those dreams and created a design that will elevate communal life for the neighborhood, the Jewish community, and beyond, enabling our children to take risks, have fun, and learn in a safe and stimulating environment.

GATHER & CELEBRATE

Anchored by the recently renovated Susan T. Goldberg Courtyard, the park offers a pergola with seating, the gorgeous Debbie's Garden, an additional patio with tables surrounded by Honey's Garden, an open lawn area, and a new garden with seating at the Slivka-Blechman Holocaust Memorial.

LEARN & PLAY

Rooted in nature and inclusively designed for children of all ages and abilities, the park features the Goldman Family Playground, with opportunities to climb, swing, slide, create, and let imaginations run wild!

SERVE OUR COMMUNITY

Designed for semipublic use (similar to a public school playground), the park provides a fenced, well-lit place to play and gather for a neighborhood with no publicly accessible playground within a 20-minute walking radius.

Open to the public from June 1-Labor Day, weekdays from 4-8pm and weekends 1-8pm. Please note, no dogs, smoking, alcohol or drugs on the property. There is no building or bathroom access.
