Join us at the VFW for an open house, where you'll be able to provide input on future plans for our neighborhood! Downtown Redevelopment Services (DRS) will be facilitating the open house with support from FWC.
Small Group Stakeholder Meetings
We’re looking for stakeholders - residents, business owners, workers, anyone with a vested interest in the neighborhood - to attend smaller group and one-on-one sessions facilitated by DRS. Meetings will be held on September 19th, 20th, and 21st, and will be 15 to 30 minutes each. Email info@woodfordscorner.org to share why you're interested and to pick a time.

Sign Up: Woodfords Corner's First Yard Sale Trail
Turn trash into treasure! Help make the neighborhood green, clean and sustainable by selling your unwanted items and giving them a whole new life. Join the first-ever Woodfords Corner Yard Sale Trail on October 5.
We will promote the event and publish an electronic map that highlights all the participating yard sale locations. All you need to do is sign up! Sign up is by donation; suggested $10/household.

We Need Your Help - Volunteer at the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market!
Do love the market? We need your help to keep things running smoothly. It only takes one hour to volunteer - sign up for an opening (2:30 to 3:30 pm) or a closing shift (6:30 to 7:30 pm) - and it's a huge help!

Petition for Permanently Safer Crosswalks - Sign Now!
We are collecting signatures to petition the City of Portland to implement permanent traffic calming measures. Sign on to join the Friends of Woodford's Corner in asking members of the City Council to prioritize pedestrian and bike safety by funding infrastructure changes in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

10th Annual Deering Center Porchfest
Deering Center, Portland

Porchfest is an annual event in the Deering Center neighborhood that hosts musical performances and celebrates community in a simple and joyful way. The event is free and all are welcome. Last year, over 60 bands performed across the neighborhood filling the streets with beautiful music and good will.

Back Cove Trail Clean Up

As part of AARP's annual Day of Service, AARP Maine is holding a neighborhood clean-up followed by complimentary lunch in their conference room. With materials provided by the City of Portland Department of Public Works, they plan to clean the trail between the parking lot across from Hannaford and Dartmouth Street.

Foodie Friends at Farmers Market!
In collaboration with the City of Portland’s Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO), FWC launched an initiative dubbed “Shop Around the World” to celebrate local, immigrant-owned businesses. he first iteration of this project happened at the August 15th farmers market - Foodie Friends joined us for the afternoon with samples of their new prepared foods menu. The owner, Ibrahim, and Chef Sabah were at the tent with Belinda and Lauren from OEO; they brought so much joy to the market as they shared food and stories.

Revitalization Roadmap Survey
FWC was recently selected by the Maine Downtown Center to receive a Revitalization Roadmap planning exercise. As a final product, a report will be created with recommendations to better our community in the next 5 years. As a part of this process, we need public input! Take the survey, and tell two friends!

Welcome Sissle & Daughters to the Neighborhood - Help Meet Their Fundraising Goal!
Earlier this summer, Mary Chapman and Will Sissle, owners of the Cheese Shop, announced that they are opening a second market in the old Merlin Motors building on Forest Ave! To get to the finish line, Mary and Will need help from the community! They are launching a NuMarket campaign to ensure they have sufficient funds to open. With NuMarket, community members can make contributions, and in return, they will receive 120% of that contribution back in credits to be used to shop at either the new or original location.
