The Farmers Market Launches!

June 1 was a beautiful, if hot, day in Woodfords Corner. Luckily, the Maine Maple Creemee Co. truck was present at the inaugural Woodfords Corner Farmers Market to provide attendees with a cold treat to enjoy while browsing the market. Another vendor, Wicked Sharp, offered onsite knife and scissor sharpening. Farmers at the market included ChiGoBee Farm, New Spoke Farm, Fair Share Farm, Fresh Pickins, Ferda Farm, Marque Farm, and Pocket Farms Collective.

This week featured live music from Kelsey Veillette Music, who covered classics like Valerie by Amy Winehouse, and more recent hits, like Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Next door to the live music tent, children enjoyed games of bocce ball bowling.

The best part of the market, though, was the incredible feeling of community as residents of Woodfords Corner and the Portland area gathered to support local farmers and businesses. We are grateful to everyone who made the first market of the season a success - our community, farmers, vendors, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and, most of all, our market managers Katie and Martha, who have put in hours of hard work to make this happen.
