Walking School Bus to Ocean Elementary resumes
A Walking School Bus is a way for students to get to school by walking together in a supervised group. Student participants are chaperoned by a parent “Driver,” who leads the walk to school along a set route, picking up children along the way, much like a regular school bus.
Where: Woodfords Corner Area
When: Beginning on Tuesday Sept 3rd (currently Tuesdays only)
Why: Healthier Habits, Cleaner Environment & Community Benefit!
· Walking to school enables children to incorporate regular physical activity before they arrive to school
· When families decide to lace up their sneakers to get to school, they help reduce the amount of air pollutants emitted by automobiles
· Children and parents develop a sense of community when walking with friends and neighbors along the way
How Friends of Woodfords Corner can help:
We, along with the National Center for Safe Routes to School, believe in the importance and joy of safe walking. We support our community and our hope for the 2019-2020 school year is to have a Walking School Bus that operates several days a week! In order to make this a success, we need parent volunteers to lead the group! If you are interested, please contact me! The specific Walking School Bus route will be determined by the level of interest. ALL are welcome to walk!
