Cornerfest is almost here!

2025 marks 10 years of Friends of Woodfords Corner. To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a party for the entire neighborhood! On October 4, join us for a free, festive block party to celebrate all things Woodfords Corner!

In the heart of the Corner, we’ll close off Grace Street (between Vannah Ave. and Woodford St.) to vehicle traffic so that neighbors and friends of all ages can come together for games and activities, food, beer, music, and community!

Don’t miss out on:

  • Live music acts, including The Ideal Maine Social Aid and Sanctuary Band, The Rudy Meryl Project, and Yard Sauce!

  • Carnival-style, tabletop, and lawn games for people of all ages

  • Craft creation, pumpkin painting, and wild seed bomb making

  • Beer Garden and bar courtesy of the VFW

  • Local trivia and neighborhood-building

  • Connecting with neighbors and friends, be they new or longtime!

Yard Sale Trail is almost here too!

Sell your stuff or shop the neighborhood, then come party with us at CornerFest!

Clean out your closets, cupboards, basements and garages and participate in this neighborhood-wide yard sale. Focus on turning your pre-loved items into someone else's treasure, and leave the promotion/advertising to us!

We are bringing the Odd Fellows Hall to life with holiday magic on Saturday, December 6th! Featuring over 30 artists and craftspeople, there will be fun for the entire family and food available for purchase from Vina Ann’s!

The Green, Clean and Sustainable team just wrapped up the 6th summer of Deering Ave Planters. Thanks to Theo (our youth volunteer of the month!), his dad Sam, Peter, Marcia, Betsy, Lisa, Jenny and Vonnett. Thank you to Vonnett Seeger and Jason Aucoin for the design. And a shout out to our watering volunteers who kept these plants alive all summer for us to enjoy: Jessica, Heather, Andrew, Sam, Jenny, Abigail, Ellen, Jackie, Marcia and Peter. Financial sponsorship comes from three local businesses: Big Sky Bread, Bird & Co, and State of Mind Design. This is what neighboring looks like!

New Bike Racks in the Corner!

 

This summer FWC worked with local businesses and the City of Portland to install 6 new bike racks in the neighborhood! Bike parking is always available and free in the corner. As are the inspirational quotes!

Make sure to ride on down and try out the new racks as you head to work, head home, grab a bite to eat or do some shopping!

Special thanks to Buoy Media and the Portland VFW for sponsoring the racks! We have the best neighbors!

New offerings at Pot and Pan!

Pot + Pan Kitchen is excited to announced THC Free Fresh Baked!

Beginning mid - October, Pot + Pan Kitchen will have an assortment of French Macs + Cookies available every Thursday - Saturday until sellout.

Laundry Love continues at Trinity Church

Laundry Love is a long running program of Trinity Church which pays washing/drying costs for all customers one afternoon a month.

It is held at Wash Tub II, near CVS on Forest Ave.

Demand has grown over the years and last month 268 loads of laundry were washed and dried and 45 different families were helped.  Laundry Love is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 1-5pm at Wash Tub II.

Bakery Photo Collective 25th Annual Fundraiser

Bakery Photo Collective is hosting its
25th annual auction, exhibition, and party in December but you can submit your photos now!

Join University of Maine's Cooperative Extension at the Woodfords Club to learn about the Master Gardener program and sustainable gardening, and practical solutions for your gardens. Gardeners with vegetables, fruit, flowers, lawns, woody/ornamental perennials, or landscape trees will be highly interested in this program.

Attendance is open to the general public and free of charge

October 16: Public Meeting on Reporting Safety Concerns in Woodfords Corner Neighborhoods 

 
Trinity Episcopal Church, Lincoln Hall 
580 Forest Ave, Portland

Join neighbors and city staff Rich Bianculli, Portland Police City Prosecutor, and Rai Grant, Neighborhood Liaison, for an informational meeting on how we can address non-emergency safety and quality of life issues in Woodfords Corner, such as decreasing graffiti, abandoned property, disruptive neighbors, excessive trash, broken streetlights, etc. Learn about Fixit Portland and the steps to report concerns to the non-emergency line at the police department.

October 18: Coveside Market

Head to Coveside Coffee for the final mini-market of the year!  

Stop by to get your photo taken at the Tintype Photobooth, get a jump on holiday gift shopping and support some talented local artists!

Hosted by Trinity Church join this community gathering with a trunk or treat event in the church parking lot as well as free pumpkin carving and decoration led by Mama Mia Making.

All children and the young at heart are welcome to participate in this fun Halloween celebration.
