The Buzz around Saunders Triangle

The native pollinator garden in Saunders Triangle is buzzing with pollinators, as well as interest from the community! This demonstration garden containing over 250 native perennials, was featured in a recent West End News, Portland Climate Dispatch article, highlighting the new Grow Wild program spearheaded by the City of Portland's Sustainability Office. 

Planted last fall at the corner of Saunders Street and Forest Avenue, the garden has been thriving during this first summer season. In addition to Woodfords Corner pedestrains, a variety of butterflies, bees, beetles, birds, moths, and wasps have been frequent visitors. Once the garden is fully established during the third summer, it will have the capacity to feed 5,000 pollinators per day. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who have helped install and steward the garden. We're excited to see how it evolves over time and what other opportunities for native plant projects there might be in the neighborhood. Stay tuned!
