Doc & Talk at VFW: Native Plants and Homegrown National Park

Did you know that small changes in your yard can have a huge impact on biodiversity? By creating native habitat, you can help restore nature while experiencing the joy and fulfillment of connecting with the world around you.

This Doc & Talk kicked off with a screening of What's the Rush?, a documentary film about the science-based solution to the biodiversity crisis, presented by Doug Tallamy. Following the screening, chat with local experts about native plantings and make native planting "seed bombs."

About the Film: What's the Rush?
What's the Rush? is a documentary film created by renowned ecologist Doug Tallamy of Homegrown National Park, where you’ll learn:

  • How biodiversity is declining, and what you can do to help

  • Simple, effective ways to create habitat and support wildlife

  • The personal rewards of bringing nature back home

After the 45-minute film, folks stayed for a Q&A with local experts Larkspur Design and Sophia Design to get their native planting questions answered. They also got a chance to learn how to make seed bombs for sun and shade loving native flowering plants to scatter at future

Thank you to the VFW Post 6859 for the space and to the Green, Clean & Sustainable team Betsy Tesh, Lily Sage and DeAnna Massey for making this event happen.
