Back by Popular Demand, Woodfords Corner Farmers Market Opens May 30th for Second Season

Building on last year’s success, the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market (WCFM) opens Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 3:30pm in Portland. It will feature over a dozen vendors, providing a range of items and services - produce, meat, baked goods, ice cream, onsite knife sharpening, and more!

This market aims to cultivate the local food system for a neighborhood that is home to more than 9,000 people. “How local can you get?," says Teresa Valliere, President of Friends of Woodfords Corner (FWC), the neighborhood nonprofit that launched the market in 2023. “As a neighborhood market, not only do we complement the bigger farmers markets by working with newer farms, we also give more people another walkable option to access locally grown food.”

This year, FWC is doubling down on the market’s community feel. Live music, ‘spotlight’ organizations, food trucks, and games will be returning in the market’s second season, but with tables and more seating available. Additional community activities will be sprinkled in throughout the season

FWC is also working with the Natural Helpers program, housed in the city’s Office of Economic Opportunity, to tie in local businesses and encourage shoppers to patronize the neighborhood’s many international grocery markets. Additionally, FWC is launching ‘Corner Cash,’ a targeted voucher program redeemable only at this market.

The WCFM will operate on Thursdays, 3:30-6:30 pm, from May 30th through October 24th at 202 Woodford St. SNAP, EBT, Maine Harvest Bucks, and Bumper Crop certificates are all accepted.
